Sweetleaf has not one but two LIC locations!  The Jackson Avenue location serves strictly coffee, tea and baked goods, the backroom is my favorite little hangout..rock albums and jacquard wallpaper line the walls.  The convenient proximity to Brooklyn bound buses helps this coffee shop stay packed.  Sweetleaf Center Blvd offers not only coffee, tea and full baked goods but a full service menu and drinks after 5 PM.  Their brunch is especially popular.

2. Communitea

My personal favorite place to grab tea in the neighborhood.   As the name suggests Communitea offers a very extensive selection of teas (both hot and iced), including Vanilla Coconut and traditional Matcha Green Tea.   Healthy baked goods are offered fresh daily, and they have a full service menu.  Their Buddha Bowl is especially popular.  Come for the cozy ambiance and stay for the free wifi and great food!

3. LIC Corner Cafe

LIC Corner Café is a fairly new establishment in LIC (October 2015) that gave locals another option to get affordable, delicious greek pastries, salads, and sandwiches in Long Island City. The owners are long time LIC locals and are happy to introduce you to your new neighborhood!

4. The Mill Coffee Company

If your looking for the perfect place to cool off after climbing at The Cliffs (Long Island City's very own rock climbing gym) and grab a coffee check out “The Mill Coffee Company”. With rustic architecture, this place serves high quality coffee, soups, and sandwiches that are perfect for grabbing on the go.

5. Coffeed

The “Coffeed” brand truly stands out as a wonderful brand that values giving back to the community.  Not only do they contribute 3% to 10% of their revenue to the local charitable trusts, but they work with the Hunters Point Park Association to help bring amazing activities and events to the Hunters Point South Park.  Not only do they serve coffee (they roast their own beans) but you can grab a beer or wine and enjoy outside in their public seating area.
